Caring for your Beeswax Candle

Prolong the life of your beeswax candle

  • Follow these candle care tips to help prolong the life of your candles:

***First you will notice that there is a small gap between the candle and the container.  This is normal with ALL  beeswax candles.  Beeswax is very dense and heavy so it has a certain amount of shrinkage during the candle making process.  This does not change the performance of your beeswax candle.

  • Be sure to follow the "1st burn" rule.  Your candle should remain lit for at least 1 hour for each inch in diameter.  Beeswax has a memory, and if it doesn't melt correctly the first time it will not give you  optimal results.
  • Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
  •  Burning candles should never be left unattended.
  • Burn your candle on an even, non-flammable surface.
  • To prevent smoking and dripping, trim wick to 1/4 inch prior to each use.
  • Burn away from drafts and fans which can cause uneven burning, dripping or smoking.
  •  Don’t trim the wick too excessively as it may be immersed in the wax pool and result in a tiny flame or cause relighting to be difficult.
  • Light the wick from the base of the wick to allow the wick to coat with the melted beeswax and burn properly.
  •  Be careful not to splatter the hot melted wax when blowing out your candle.
  • To eliminate smoke when extinguishing a flame, use a suitable tool to press the wick into the wax pool and straighten it again.
  • Remove any foreign particles from the pool of melted wax after extinguishing your candle.
  • Best to store the candles in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and heat.
